How Ganking works

What does Ganking let a unit do?

Move directly from one battlefield to another with its standard move. Without Ganking, a standard move only goes from your base to a battlefield or from a battlefield back to your base.

Core Rules 810.1.b, 144.4.a, 144.4.b, 144.4.c.1

Does Ganking give my unit an extra move?

No. It's the same standard move with one more place to go. Moving still exhausts the unit, so it can't move again until something readies it.

Core Rules 810.1.c.3, 144.2

When can a unit with Ganking move?

Whenever any standard move is allowed: during your Main Phase, outside showdowns and combat, with nothing on the chain. Ganking doesn't let a unit move in the middle of a combat.

Core Rules 144.1.a, 144.1.b, 144.1.c

Can I move a Ganking unit together with other units?

Yes. Units moving together must all go to the same battlefield, but they can start from different places, so a Ganking unit at one battlefield can join units moving from your base.

Core Rules 144.3, 144.3.a, 144.3.b

Can my opponent respond to a Ganking move?

No. Moving doesn't use the chain, so there's nothing to respond to. They get their chance once the move starts a showdown or combat.

Core Rules 448.3.c, 453, 454

Does Ganking work with spells that move units?

Ganking only changes the standard move. A spell or ability that moves a unit says where it can go, with or without Ganking.

Core Rules 810.1.c, 451.1

What if a unit gets Ganking twice?

Nothing extra happens. Multiple instances of Ganking are redundant.

Core Rules 810.2

Example: Vi jumps battlefields

Your Vi, Destructive is at a battlefield you control, and your opponent has units at the other battlefield. In your Main Phase you exhaust her to move straight there, which starts a combat. Without Ganking she would have to move back to your base first, and she couldn't move again until something readied her.
