How Disarm works

When does Disarm trigger?

When the unit attacks: the first time it becomes an attacker in a combat. It doesn't trigger when the unit defends.

Core Rules 831.1.b, 383.4.e

Which unit gets the -Might?

One enemy unit at the same battlefield, which you choose when the ability triggers. The penalty lasts until the end of the turn, not just for the combat.

Core Rules 831.1.d, 355.5.b, 355.7

Does Disarm stack?

Yes. Disarm values add up, and the unit still triggers only once, with the total. Riot's example: Clanging Sentry reads "Your Mechs have Disarm", so with two of them in play, both have Disarm 2.

Core Rules 831.1.d.1, 831.2Core Rules: Radiance Patch Notes (Effective October 16, 2026)

How is Disarm different from Assault?

Assault makes your attacker stronger: +1 Might for as long as it's an attacker. Disarm makes one enemy unit weaker instead: -1 Might until the end of the turn, which lasts after the combat is over.

Core Rules 807.1.c, 807.1.d.1, 831.1.d

Can Disarm take a unit below 0 Might?

Its Might can drop below 0, but a unit with less than 0 Might counts as 0 for spells, abilities and combat damage.

Core Rules 143.2.c

Does Disarm work on a unit with Deflect?

Yes, if you pay. Choosing a unit with Deflect costs one power of any domain, for abilities as well as spells. Disarm is a triggered ability, so you may refuse to pay, but then it does nothing that combat.

Example: Seraphine attacks

Seraphine, Inspiring, a 3 Might unit with Disarm 2, attacks a battlefield where your opponent has a 3 Might unit. Normally the two would kill each other. But when Seraphine attacks, Disarm gives the defender -2 Might this turn, so it deals only 1 combat damage. Seraphine survives with 1 damage, and her 3 damage kills the 1 Might defender.

Official rulings

Riot's own words, from its rules articles.

  1. Disarm is an attack trigger. The first time a unit with Disarm attacks each combat, they will give an enemy unit at their battlefield -1 MightMight this turn. If a unit has Disarm 2, they’ll give an enemy unit -2 MightMight this turn.

Core Rules: Radiance Patch Notes (Effective October 16, 2026)

  2. Disarm stacks just like Assault or Shield; meaning if a unit has gained multiple Disarm keywords from different sources, the unit will have one trigger for Disarm with a total of the sum of their Disarm values.
