How Hunt works
When does Hunt give me XP?
When the unit conquers a battlefield (you take control of one you haven't scored this turn) or holds one (you still control it at the start of your turn). Each time, you gain XP equal to its Hunt value: 1 for plain Hunt, 2 for Hunt 2.
Core Rules 823.1.b, 823.1.c.1, 471.1, 471.2
What is XP used for?
Two things. Level abilities turn on while you have enough XP, and some cards let you spend XP for an effect, like Crowd Favorite, which can spend 2 XP to buff itself. Spending XP lowers your total by that much.
Core Rules 730.1, 730.2Riftbound Core Rules: Unleashed Patch Notes
Does my XP reset at the end of the turn?
No. XP stays from turn to turn until you spend it, and there's no limit to how much you can have. That's different from energy and power in your rune pool, which empty every turn.
Core Rules 729, 733, 167
If two units with Hunt conquer together, do I get XP from both?
Yes. Every unit at the battlefield when you conquer it triggers its own conquer effects, so each unit with Hunt gives you its XP.
Core Rules 383.4.c.2, 383.4.c.2.a
Does Hunt stack?
Yes. If a unit with Hunt gains Hunt from another source, the values add up: Hunt plus Hunt 2 makes Hunt 3.
Core Rules 823.2
Do I still gain XP if I don't get the point?
Yes. Conquer and hold effects still trigger when the point for conquering or holding is replaced or doesn't happen, like when you'd draw a card instead of scoring your final point. Hunt still gives you XP.
Core Rules 383.4.c.2.c, 383.4.d.2.c, 473.1.b.1
Do teammates share XP?
No. In modes with teammates, each player has their own XP.
Core Rules 732
Example: Mosstomper levels up
You have 0 XP. Mosstomper, a 3 Might unit with Hunt 2, conquers a battlefield, so you gain 2 XP. At the start of your next turn you still control that battlefield, so you hold it and Mosstomper gives you 2 more. With 4 XP, its Level 3 ability is on: it has +1 Might and Deflect.

Hunt is an ability that gives its controller 1 XP when a unit with Hunt conquers or holds. Higher Hunt Value means more XP gained.
Some cards allow players to spend XP just like players spend energy, power, or buffs—to spend XP, reduce your XP by that much.
